09-24-2008 – Animal Cruelty Charges filed against Dandridge Man – Several counts of animal cruelty charges were filed against Billy Swanger, of 652 Glass Road, after a civil process officer noticed emaciated animals on the property. Sergeant Phillip Davis reports that the sheriff’s department, Humane Society, and animal control officers went to the property on Glass Road and found several animals without food or water.  There were eight dead geese and two dog skeletons found still tied up by collars to trees. Four dogs, three goats, a cow, and four cats were seized and taken to the local animal shelter. Swanger was arrested for 15 counts of animal cruelty and four counts of aggravated animal cruelty. He has been released from jail, after posting a $62,500 bond. A preliminary Sessions Court hearing is set for October 1. ____________________________________________ 09-22-2008 - Meth Lab Investigation After Drug Overdose Report - Investigators found meth making materials at a residence on Birdsong Lane after a subject was transported to the hospital suffering from a meth overdose. Chief Deputy Bud McCoig reports complaints prior to this incident. When investigators arrived at the residence several attempted to run out the backdoor, however deputies were there waiting on them. After gaining consent to search the residence, items commonly used to make meth, as well as finished meth product was found. The owner of the residence, Anita Hutsell, and visitors Michael Dewayne White, of White Oak Church Road, and Shawn Ray Banks, of Mansfield Gap Road were arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, and possession of meth for sale.  ____________________________________________
09-15-2008 - Deputies Find Deceased Subject During a Welfare Check - Deputies were requested to check the welfare of William Pullen after he had not been seen for nearly two weeks. Pullen was found deceased in his camper trailer, after employees of Swann's Marina requested that his welfare be checked. Investigators are still reviewing this death.
